Craven District
Council, with Pioneer Projects, is seeking an artist to
deliver
The Darwin Project in Bentham
Craven Museum and Gallery wishes to complement its
collection of geologically important fossils with
contemporary art work and, at the same time, reach new
audiences.
Job
Summary
Inspired by the fossils, the artist will:

Plan
and deliver four half-day workshops in Bentham with
a group of men from the surrounding area. It is
expected that work from the workshops will be
included in a Darwin exhibition at the end of
January at Craven Museum & Gallery, Skipton. The
artist will be paid £450 to plan and deliver all
workshops and assemble (with two other artists) the
final exhibition at Craven Museum & Gallery.

Complete a commissioned artwork for retention by
Craven Museum and Gallery for the Darwin exhibition
and subsequently as part of its collection. It is
expected that the commission will take at least 5
days – remuneration is £750. There is a small
materials budget.
We are
seeking a professional 3D/sculpture artist who lives
and/or works in the Craven area and is available to work
on the project between November 2009 and January 2010.
The artist will require experience of contemporary
participatory practice coupled with high quality
delivery of commissions within tight deadlines.
The
project will be delivered in partnership with Pioneer
Projects within the context of their Arts and Health
Training Project. The commissioned artist will deliver
the work in dialogue with Pioneer Projects about their
training and support needs.

images of work by email, by 4pm Thursday 15 October

Successful candidates will be contacted on Monday 19
October

Shortlisted artists will be asked to attend an
interview at Looking Well in Bentham to present the
way in which they would approach the brief on
Thursday 22 October
